A common cold is typically caused due to the aggravation of Kapha and Vata doshas in the head and air passages, especially because of the exposure to cold and damp conditions or presence of Ama.
Ayurvedic Tips for Common Cold
- Have warm water during the day rather than drinking chilled beverages.
- Try steam inhalation two times a day for clearing nasal passages.
- Warm tea made with ginger, tulsi leaves and honey is very popular for throat relief.
- Incorporate black pepper, ginger and turmeric in your food for balancing Kapha dosha.
- Ensure that you have enough sleep and avoid cold, oily and heavy foods until the symptoms improve.
