What is Malaria?
Malaria is caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito.
Common Symptoms of Malaria
- Cyclical fever with chills
- Sweating
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Nausea
Ayurvedic Perspective on Malaria
Ayurveda categorises malarial fever under Vishama Jwara (irregular/cyclical fever), linked to disturbed Pitta and Kapha along with Ama accumulation.
Ayurvedic Lifestyle & Supportive Care
- Malaria requires prompt laboratory diagnosis and antimalarial medication — this is non-negotiable and time-sensitive.
- Stay well-hydrated with warm water, coconut water, and light fluids.
- Eat easily digestible, light meals (moong dal khichdi) during the fever phase.
- Use mosquito nets, repellents, and eliminate stagnant water around your home to prevent future infection.
- Once medically cleared, Rasayana therapy can help restore strength.
When to Seek Immediate Medical Help
⚠️ Medical Emergency: Malaria can rapidly progress to severe or cerebral malaria, which can be fatal. If you have cyclical fever with chills, seek medical testing and treatment immediately — do not rely on home remedies alone. Do not delay or substitute emergency medical care with home remedies.
